A Build Day is a team-building day of service at a Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area construction site. They are an excellent way for corporate, school, faith based and/or non-profit groups to work together to provide direct service to a family in need of affordable housing.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your shift begins in order to sign in and hear a brief safety meeting. The group will then break into smaller crews to work on the various building tasks. Activities may include hanging drywall, painting, stacking lumber, framing, sanding, cleaning and more!
-
Anyone over the age of 18 can participate in a Build Day. 16 & 17 year olds must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No construction experience is needed, as our team will teach you everything you need to know! At this time, Build Days are a group opportunity only.
-
To begin the registration process for your team, please fill out our inquiry form below. You can then expect to hear from our team in about 5-7 business days.
-
Our Construction Team consistently keeps an eye on the weather leading up to your Build Day. As a general rule of thumb, we aim to let groups know if their Build Day will need to be cancelled due to weather by 3PM the afternoon before your Build Day.
-
Please dress in clothing that can get dirty and potentially stained. Sturdy, closed-toe sneakers or boots are required. We highly recommended dressing in layers.
-
We can sign off on school, court-ordered, or community service hours. Be sure to let us know in advance.

The Legends
The Legends are a group of retired donors, former board members, and longtime friends of Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area who continue to make a lasting impact. Drawing on their experience, skills, and deep commitment to our mission, the Legends volunteer their time to complete important projects — from building wheelchair ramps for disabled homeowners to painting, landscaping, and adding the final touches that help turn a house into a home. Their work ensures that every Habitat home is safe, accessible, and welcoming. Their dedication serves as an inspiring example of service and community spirit.
To find out more about joining the legends, contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Callie Vanlandingham.
